One of the biggest pop singers in the world, Katy Perry has a brand new single and it’s entitled “Rise.” The “Dark Horse” songstress composed the anthem “Rise” for the upcoming Olympics, and you can read the lyrics below.
As of tonight, Perry has not uploaded a free stream of “Rise” to her VEVO or YouTube channel. Any unauthorized stream of the song that’s uploaded on YouTube is being yanked down by her label. That’s because she partnered with Apple Music, who has the exclusive free stream. You can listened to and download the song via iTunes here.
According to a press release sent out late Thursday night (July 14) Katy Perry’s “Rise” will be used for the coverage and promotion of the Olympics, which will take place this summer in Rio de Janeiro. At 8 a.m. Eastern Time today (July 15) a cinema spot for the NBC Olympics will be shown on “TODAY.” That extended clip will feature Perry’s anthem “Rise.”
About the song “Rise” Katy Perry says in a press release, “This is a song that’s been brewing inside me for years, that has finally come to the surface. I was inspired to finish it now, rather than save it for my next album, because now more than ever, there is a need for our world to unite.”
This is the first single she has released since 2014’s “This Is How We Do.” The last album she put out was Prism in October 2013. There’s no official word yet on when Perry is planning to release a fifth studio album.
